December 2023

Chleansaid Wind Farm has received consent from the Scottish Government on 15th December 2023. The consented project is for 16 turbines, with heights of the turbines up to 180m and 200m to tip.  The project includes battery storage on site to help balance the grid. The earliest date for construction to start is 2025 and ESB will organise community meetings in 2024 ahead of the start of any construction work for their input.

ESB is committed to providing a community benefit fund of £5,000 per MW per annum for the lifetime of the project, meaning that the wind farm will provide almost £500,000 every year to the local area.  The company is also committed to exploring shared ownership opportunities of the wind farm project.
