At ESB Energy, we are sensitive to the individual circumstances of all of our customers and we understand there are times when financial hardship might affect some customers' ability to pay.

We are committed to helping all our customers who are experiencing difficulties in paying their bills and will always work with customers and welfare agencies as required. This includes:


  • Advising customers to contact us at an early stage if they are experiencing difficulty making a payment on their bill
  • Offering an arrangement to pay an agreed amount by instalments
  • Agreeing with customers an arrangement where payments may be deducted at source from a social security benefit they currently receive
  • Offering a prepayment meter whereby you pay for energy before using it, putting customers who find it difficult to budget for energy use back in control
